Best mattress under £500

We are often asked what the best mattress is at a particular price.

We always advise people to lay on a mattress to try it out before buying, and we'd encourage anyone to come in to our shop and test out some options.
We understand that not everybody wants to do that, so we've put this together this guide to help you make the best choice in your price range.
We've been selling mattresses for decades, so you can trust our impartial expert advice.

Best Double Mattress Under £500

New Backcare Ultimate 2000 - 4ft6 Double: £465

by Sleepeezee

at the Bed and Mattress Centre

There is a disappointing trend in mattress manufacturing where models are 'updated' with lower specification and lower quality materials, and sold at the same price as the old model.

Thankfully Sleepeezee is bucking that trend with the New Backcare Ultimate 2000. It's got a similar specification to the old model (which was incredibly popular) but now it's got natural wool and cashmere fillings, four rows of side stitching and now has a spring base with 30% recycled steel.

This is a superb mattress in the sub-£500 market, and one we highly recommend if you need a firmer mattress.

Best King Size Mattress Under £200

Bordeaux 2000 - 5ft King: £495

by Sleepeezee

at the Bed and Mattress Centre

The Bordeaux 2000 is another exceptional quality mattress from Sleepeezee, which comes with a 5 year guarantee, and is hand made in the UK.

With four rows of side stitching, hand finished tufting, and natural wool and silk fillings, the Bordeaux feels sumptuous - and it's our recommendation for a sub-£500 king size mattress.

This is a medium tension mattress which is a super product.
